Coffee of the Month
‘Coffee Of The Month’ (CotM) clubs are a common marketing scheme with lots of roasters, but here’s why I think it might help Ministry Grounds and people who love freshly roasted, high quality, speciality coffee…
Six weeks on...
It’s around six weeks since I started roasting in the Has Garanti, and I’ve probably put around 60-80Kg of beans through the roaster in that time.
As I continue to learn the tricks of the machine, my roasts are slowly improving.
Some observations.
It's easy to turn beans brown...
I’ve had a few conversations recently with some people wanting to jump on the current bandwagon of coffee roasting as a full time occupation.
I sense that some of them are looking for a sea change of some kind and see this lovely, social hobby of ours as a nirvana-like oasis in the big,bad world. Apart from the harsh realities of running your own business (not an attractive thing to me at all), the big problem is expressed by Mike, a guy on a busy homeroasting email forum. He said:
Vintage Roasting
I love the creativity and ingenuity that so many people over the years have used to create equipment to roast and process coffee. What a shame this museum is in Germany!
Turkish Update
Time for an update on the continuing journey of mastering the new roaster…
The first roast
A very busy week at work has meant several days delay in getting to actually roast in the Has Garanti properly. But today that all changed…
The roaster arrives - 2
The unpacking, moving – and working around the problems…
But having fun as well!
The roaster arrives - 1
This probably barely rates a post, but after a slightly frustrating day, the new Has Garanti roaster arrived – at 6pm.
