Plunger, french press, call it what you will
There was an ad on Australian TV a few years back for an up market brand of instant coffee (is that an oxymoron?), where a bloke was almost in tears, thankfully buying a jar of the instant stuff , because, as he tearfully spluttered out: “My plunger broke!”
If my plunger(s) broke (and my espresso machines died), I’d be drinking plain water, not instant. But I digress… this post is all about plunger coffee…

In Australia, the humble plunger (often called a French press in States and elsewhere) is the most popular way of brewing fresh coffee in the home.
