Direct relationship coffee is gaining support in many western coffee-loving countries.
This is where there is a direct connection between the grower of the coffee and the roaster, leaving out the grower auction process, the wholesaler and one or two other middlemen.
But it’s normally beyond small roaster like me – until perhaps now…

The Fairtrade debate continues... 2
If you stopped by over at the Solar Panel and caught up with the debate there (interestingly, the comments have separated out into two distinct threads: those discussing the theological issues of justice and caring for the poor, and those tossing around the questions around how FT coffee is prompted and encouraged.) you will know that my comments about Fair Trade not necessarily being the best way to help coffee growers has not been all that well received.
So I went and did some more digging…
The Fairtrade debate continues...
As regular readers know, I think the whole issue of Fair Trade coffee is a vexed one. There are powerful arguments both ways: for and against it.
While not being wholeheartedly opposed to it, I do think it is overrated.
The topic has come alive again recently after a provocative post on a another Christian blog and an extensive article in a Sydney Anglican news magazine…
