Vanuatu Sunset update
It’s been over six months now since I launched the ‘Vanuatu Sunset’ blend to support my son Joel in a year of mission work with Uni students in Vanuatu.
Joel is having a great time in Vanuatu, and is clearly contributing significantly to gospel work at the Uni. He’s also being stretched in a number of areas, doing things that he never thought he would!

Coffee and ministry - like love and marriage
If you’ve browsed this blog at all, you will know that it’s comes from my love of combining my passion for Jesus with my passion for coffee. I figured the best way to justify my coffee ‘habit’ was on ministry grounds…
So last Saturday saw another great opportunity.
The Fairtrade debate continues... 2
If you stopped by over at the Solar Panel and caught up with the debate there (interestingly, the comments have separated out into two distinct threads: those discussing the theological issues of justice and caring for the poor, and those tossing around the questions around how FT coffee is prompted and encouraged.) you will know that my comments about Fair Trade not necessarily being the best way to help coffee growers has not been all that well received.
So I went and did some more digging…

Coffee-fuelled Vanuatu mission
You don’t have to read very far on this blog to know that coffee is my second passion in life, after that of the Christian gospel.
Actually, make that the third passion in my life: gospel first, wife second, Then coffee ;-)
If you know me, you also know that I love it when my enthusiam for fine coffee can also serve the gospel. Hence this piece of news…
A review revisted
I still find it hard to believe that a simple review could cause so much angst (see the comments left on that article).
A further email and phone conversation leads me to want to air this issue a bit further and to try and be transparent about this situation. And that is what this article is about. Reading the original review first will help make sense of what follows..
Ministry Grounds on the radio
At the risk of being accused of blowing my own horn…
If you are in Sydney and can pick up 103.2 on your FM tuner, you might like to tune in next Monday morning (September 25th) sometime after 7:00am to hear a short interview with yours truly…
thegodshot gets an airing
I’ve written before about thegodshot.org – a group that is designed to combine gospel ministry with the coffee/cafe culture.
The kind people at sydneyanglicans.net have given the fledgling group a bit of a boost in an article published today. [more…]
