Nestle, what are you thinking!?
This has been around for a few weeks now, but they’ve just started a substantial TV ad campaign… But Nestle what are you thinking?!
Instant coffee is a curse in itself, but the concept of adding green coffee beans to the mix… well, it defies comment.
Over the years, there have been a few crack-pot, pseudo science products using green coffee beans, but they’ve been the stuff of ‘Today Tonight’. And the only reasoning I can think of behind this attempt, is that it’s trying to cash in on the current green tea fad. I guess the logic is that green anything is ‘good’ in people’s minds.
I have no idea what the Nescafe Green Blend tastes like, and I’ve no intention of trying it, but I have sucked on the odd green coffee bean, and I can tell you… it’s not a good thing to do!
Presumably, Nestle must process the green beans somehow. But then, can they still be called ‘green’?
The more I ponder this product, the more ridiculous it is

And plus, do we really need all these hyper-antioxidant-containing products? Can’t you do yourself damage by consuming too many of them?
This stuff just sounds disgusting, and utterly stupid. I reckon more fool the silly people who put it in their trolleys.
Michelle · Oct 27, 08:25 PMYeah, there’s plenty of evidence to suggest that roasted coffee is still pretty high in a-o’s
But I agree with the utter stupidity of the whole concept. Hope it fails miserably (bah, humbug!)
Neil · Oct 27, 08:50 PMI saw someone at the supermarket the other day with a bottle in their hand…. I couldn’t help myself and told them it was all hype. They still got it as they didn’t care much for taste/freshness etc.
Nasty, nasty rubbish.
Dan Yee · Oct 27, 09:22 PMI could not believe it myself. As if instant coffee doesn’t taste bad enough already. My roasted coffee tastes awful when its underdone and tastes a bit green! Surely people could receive the same medicinal benefits by consuming something more pleasant?
Scott · Oct 28, 06:42 PMOh dear…
Joel · Oct 30, 09:59 AMif any of my customers ask i’ll happely blend some green with roasted beans.!! NOT !!!!!! they must be absolutly insane looks like i’ve got a lot more educating to do.
