Coffee-fuelled Vanuatu mission

Vanuatu!

You don’t have to read very far on this blog to know that coffee is my second passion in life, after that of the Christian gospel.
Actually, make that the third passion in my life: gospel first, wife second, Then coffee ;-)

If you know me, you also know that I love it when my enthusiam for fine coffee can also serve the gospel. Hence this piece of news.

Number three son Joel, is taking a year off Uni next year to serve in student mission work in Vanuatu with AFES. It will be a training role similar to MTS for those who know about such things. As such, Joel will be paid a subsistence wage and is responsible for raising a good portion of that. At a personal level, we’re excited that so many of our boys are so excited and passionate about serving Christ in ways like this. So one material way I can help Joel’s efforts next is to raise funds to support his time there through coffee.

So I’ve tweaked one of my blends to give it a slightly different character, named it “Vanuatu Sunset” and unashamedly jacked the price up!
However, 20% of the sale price will go directly to the AFES account that Joel will be paid from next year.

This means the prices will look something like this:
250g bag $9.00 ($1.80 to AFES)
500g $16.00 ($3.20 to AFES)
1Kg $28.00 ($5.60 to AFES)

In addition, for the dedicated home roaster, I’ll make available a pre-blended green version for you to try:
1 Kg green, pre-blended $10.50 Kg ($2.10 to AFES)

I’ll be keeping tally of all the sales and posting updates here so you can see how the project is going.

The blend will be available to order in the Ministry Grounds Store very soon.
